And here we are. After a pretty tough and emotional process we are incredibly honoured to announce that this years good cause supported by Andover Carnival 2026 are Stormbreak and Andover Child Contact Centre. We will tell you more about the incredible work they do as the day nears, but do now here’s a small summary.
Stormbreak:
Their mission is to embed mentally healthy movement for every child, every day.
They believe that;
1. Children are happier and healthier when they move more
2. Children and their trusted adults are happier and healthier when they interact together through movement
3. Movement improves children’s wellbeing and provides vital opportunities for them to develop emotional and physical life skills.
At the core of this, they try and reduce the stigma around mental health by enabling everyday conversations whilst engaging in movement. They aim to encourage children to talk openly about their own and others’ emotions with trusted adults and their peers and to explore how movement can shape and support their mental health now and in the future.
Andover Child Contact Centre:
The trauma and distress which accompanies family breakdown means that contact can often be an awkward, sad and sometimes distressing experience for adults and children alike.
These folks provide a safe environment for children to spend supervised time with a parent who no longer lives at home. They maintain a stance of impartiality when working with parents and other family members, and they maintain a strict code of confidentiality at all times.
Andover child contact centre offers supported contact. This means that the child and parent have quality time together. Staff and volunteers are around to help if necessary but there is no close observation. They try to make the Centre as friendly as possible and encourage families to develop mutual trust , so that in due course alternative arrangements can be considered.
Both of these great causes have the children of our community at the heart of what they do. We hope you will join us on Carnival Day on July 19th and put a few pennies in the buckets to support the important work they are both doing.
